Automatic Font Group Recognition
Currently working on automatic recognition of fonts in medieval printed documents. Since the invention of the mobile types by Johannes Gutenberg during the first half of the 15th century, many different families of fonts have been developed, such as Antiqua, Fraktur, or Kursiv. Identifying automatically which ones appear on a page allows to select optimal text recognition models for this page, as well to support paleographers and historians.
