In contrast to the other members of the pattern recognition team my research interests focus mainly on artificial intelligence topics like knowledge based systems / expert systems but also machine learning.

Expert systems (EPS, XPS)

One of my project goals is to design and implement an expert systems in an automated production environment. The EPS shall run in a real environment and is not developed for pure scientific interests.

Machine Learning (ML)

Subsequently to the first goal the next step in my research is to use techniques of ML to either improve the quality and quantity of the knowledge base of the developed EPS or to convert the EPS, e. g. into a decision tree.
