In single molecule detection the final limit to analytical sensitivity is the reliable detection of single molecules. Recent researches in optical detection do not use any labeling of molecules. This would improve the sensitivity of the sensors by order of magnitude. Metallic nanoparticles have been used as labels due to their enhanced scattering at the surface plasmon resonance. In our project the goal is to combine the image preprocessing techniques with the interferometric detection to help the improvement of the accuracy of pinpointing particles' position.
