Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Andreas MaierHead of the Pattern Recognition Lab of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-NürnbergUnified Pattern Recognition for Speech and Image Processing CONRADCONRAD is a versatile tool to simulate and perform flat panel x-ray ct reconstruction. It supports parallel-beam, fan-beam, and cone-beam reconstructions. As it is meant for academic use, all used algorithms are referenced correctly in the source code and the tool itself. The purpose of CONRAD is two-fold. On the one hand, it should enable academic exchange between researchers on source code level. On the other hand, it should make new reconstruction software available quickly while making academic referencing appropriately. The official CONRAD website is found here. Program for the Evaluation of All Kinds of Speech Disorders (PEAKS)Program for Evaluation and Analysis of Children's Speech (PEAKS)Cleft lip and palate (CLP) is the most common malformation of the head. It can result in morphological and functional disorders. In clinical practice, articulation disorders are mainly evaluated by subjective tools. Previous studies have shown that experience is an important factor that influences the subjective estimation of speech disorders leading to inaccurate evaluation by persons with only few years of experience. A new technical procedure for the measurement and evaluation of speech disorders is the use of an automatic speech recognition system. Morphological features of the resonating cavity of the nose can be measured by 3D-reconstruction on the basis of a sequence of endoscopy pictures. In this manner expensive and incriminatory radiological investigations can be avoided. These analyses of function and morphology should provide the means to investigate the causes of the articulation disorders. |
