Anguelos Nicolaou obtained his bachelor degree in computer science at the Tecnological Educational Institute (TEI) of Athens.

He obtained his master of science degree from the university of Bern in computer science and is towards completing his PhD degree at the Autonomous University of Barcelona at the Computer Vision Center.

His expertise lies with Document Image Analysis and text-image analysis in General.

His academic interests include Deep Learning, Recurrent Neural Networks, texture analysis, image segmentation, OCR, HTR and many others.

He is currently employed at FAU working for the Check Bavarian Cultural Project in image retrieval from large collections of documents.
