Dr.-Ing. Marcus Prümmer

Alumnus of the Pattern Recognition Lab of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg

The vision of my work is to develop advanced 3D+t reconstruction algorithms that combine subject specific motion estimation and dynamic CT reconstruction.

M. Prümmer is Ph.D student from Friedrich-Alexander University (FAU) Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, who has been involved in 3D imaging projects for C-arm angiography at Erlangen since 2003 and in cardiac C-arm CT in direct co-operation with Siemens AG, Medical Solution, Germany since spring 2005. He is teaching since 2003 in medical image processing at FAU and head of the medical image processing group since 2005. From 1996 to 2002 he studied technical computer science at the University of Mannheim, Germany with emphasis image processing and computer graphics. Starting from February 2002 the diploma thesis was in co-operation with Siemens AG, Medical Solutions in Forchheim. In the context of the diploma thesis a procedure for a 3D-vessel-analysis was developed particularly for the clinical interventional application. After the study he was involved for one year in freelance work in a product development for a 3D vessel analysis tool for interventional 3D angiography for Siemens. M. Prümmer possesses good programming skills among in C, C++ and Matlab and started developing algorithms for non-rigid 2D-3D registration of 3D CT images and low contrast fluoroscopies in 2005. His skills in multi-dimensional non-rigid registration and tomographic reconstruction contribute to the design of reconstruction algorithms for non-static objects including motion estimation and correction during the reconstruction process. He developed first promising reconstruction algorithms for cardiac C-arm CT in 2006 at Stanford University in co-operation with Siemens AG, Medical Solutions.
